Week Seven

Relational Formation and Development =)

Physical Appearance

- It exerts a consistent positive impact on relational formation
- It is the biggest impact in the early stages of a relationship. ( In the beginning)

Don't you think? it is quite sad that physical appearance has the largest impact to form a relationship. Indirectly, it means all of us have to look good to attract people?

To look good. Make - up has became a lot of woman's best friend. Make up allows you to hide all your pigmentation, spots, dark eye bags and etc. AND, it is able to enhance your jaw line, cheek bones, pouty lips and etc to make you look prettier. It is the reason why there are more make-up brands establishing in the industry.

Adertisement plays a big part in establishing their branding in the industry. If you notice, most of the make-up advertisement were film in an "ethos" persuasion method. Which they would, empoly celebrities to advertise their products as there were the ones who heavilty relay on make-up.

How true is it??? (to the point i say about celebrities are the ones who relay heavily on make-up)

  1. I guess it is very true that almost all of the celebrities that we see nowadays depend heavily on make-up.
It had been known to all how much make-up could improve ones physical appearance and personally i don't find it an issue of them relaying on make-up as they have their right to improve their physical appearance. :)
other than improving ones physical appearance, having make-up on could bring up the confidence level of the user allowing them to perform and bring themselves out better.

  2. Looks. It’s not the most important thing though, but it is important. You have to like the way the person looks.

Looks matter a lot in many situations. If you look good, you feel good. Physical appearance does affect your overall personality.

People spend money on cosmetics, or even millions of dollars, like undergoing plastic surgery, visit the beauty parlor regularly, to improve their physical appearance, just to look good.

  3. Every person wants to look his best. Those who are fortunate to be born beautiful or handsome have an edge over others in their public dealings.

One needs to look good to impress people in social situations, to look one’s best in work place, where one deals with the public. For example, film stars have to look gorgeous and handsome.

You will feel good if you look good. A physically attractive person attracts a lot of people. Besides, it helps in building up relationships. A handsome boy attracts a lot of girls. Similarly, even girls, who are beautiful, are much sought after.

All in all, without physical appearance, things will never get done!

  4. I think cosmetics not only covers the blemishes you have on your face, it covers also the lack of confidence in a woman. Looking at the amount of cosmestics on the celebrities, I really wonder if their true personalities are covered by the thick powder on their face. True that cosmestics may make a lady looks good but why are they afraid to show their true "face"?

  5. Totally agree, all of the celebrities live with make up. We dont know how they look like in reality. However, it is because make up make them look prettier and that's why we are attracted to them too =)

  6. Putting make ups boost their confidence, especially for celebrities. Ever wonder why people put make ups on when they're working? Especially people working front desk? Or sales?
It's kind of a politeness you show to the people you meet. And how others protray will be up to them.
Appearing on TV with naked face? Or meeting your clients with paled face? What will people think about you? Unprepared? Where is your sincerity?
And because, people are usually attracted to beautiful things/people. For celebrities, they will have to do that, to gain popularity and to look beautiful.
It might not be the cosmetics that they spent most money on, but skincares?
You will, eventually, feel good when you're looking good.

  7. make-up has become an essential. it is not because you want to but it is because you have to.
however, girls should be proud of how they look like but not live their lives behind the make-up. as some girls go to the extreme of applying thick make up everyday.
totally agree on the point that physical appearence and first impression is the most important key to a relationship.

  8. physical appearence may not be everything if a person truely wants to know abt you. First impression is important but people who look at first impression only are very "surface". we should look at the inner beauty than the physical appearence. if you feel confident, naturally you will look beautiful. it is depend on your perception of beauty.

  9. The perception of beauty has been twisted by the media in many ways. Through magazines, television or even the radio.

Imagine one day if the media says bald skinheads is a sign of beauty, what will happen to many?

Physical appearance may not be everything but due to the influence of the mass media, we have all become a little superficial. (:
